Make A "Mess"terpiece

March 9:  I was really excited when I saw a groupon for a place called "Make a Mess-terpiece"--I thought it would be perfect for Sadie.  She loves going to Children's Museums but she always spends the most time at the art tables.  I got this groupon for $9 ($24 value).  I thought it would be fun to plan a date day with Sadie's best bud from Streator--Mikenna.  We went as an early birthday celebration (two weeks before her birthday).  Our trip included 4 different Hands-On activities (based on a "circus" theme), bubble'ology, splat-tacular tables, and 2 play areas.  Some pics from our day:

Creative Kitchen:

The girls made an edible "carousel" with an apple slice, animal crackers, cake mix, and yogurt.

Experimentation Station:

They filled balloons by combining baking soda & vinegar.

Splat-tacular Tables
This was Sadie's favorite... there were 4 big tables set up with different activities involving all kinds of art supplies... paint, clay, water colors, stickers, glue, etc.

Sadie LOVED bringing home a bag filled with art projects... and boy was it FILLED!

We arrived around 11 and played for about 2 hours.  We walked across the street to have lunch at a cute little pizzeria (we all had pizza slices as big as our heads!)  We went back and played for another 2 1/2 hours.  The girls had so much fun and would have stayed even longer.  Before we left we walked to a little cookie boutique to get a treat for the road (and picked up cookies for Marc, Kinnick, and Macey).

I would highly recommend this as a fun activity!  I was super impressed with the facility (although it was not as big as I imagined it would be and they did seem under-staffed for a busy Saturday).  There were plenty of little ones (under 4) there but I think it is better suited for school-age, especially if you don't want to do everything for them!  I'm sure we will go back, unfortunately it was about a 45 minute drive.  Sadie gives Make-a-Messterpiece 2 thumbs up!
