Mommy Pre-School

August 27:  This year Macey is old enough to start 3-year old pre-school and Kinnick is in his second year (4-year old pre-school).  When Sadie was little I always planned on sending our kids to two years of pre-school; however, in order to save money and to keep me from having to do pre-school drop-offs and pick-ups 5 days a week (plus Sadie!) we decided to do home-school pre-school.  I really love it and have no regrets so far...  I have several friends from my MOPS groups who are also home-schooling for pre-school.  We occasionally plan get togethers for big group activities.

I love doing pre-school with Kinnick and Macey but the key for me was to limit it to 1 day per week--yep only one!  I make it really fun with lots of cool activities and arts/crafts, but only on Tuesday  mornings.  I honestly don't think I could handle more planning than that!  So far Macey and Kinnick are loving "Mommy Pre-School".  They look forward to Tuesdays.  On Thursdays they attend pre-school at Ms. Pearl's daycare where I volunteer once a week.  This combo is the perfect fit for our family.  (I'll share more in a later post with some of what we've been learning/doing!)

This kids is SMART!  I love being his first teacher.  I can't believe he will start Kindergarten next year--I will miss him for sure!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

It kinda seems like the older we get the less "glamorous" our birthdays become... nothing fancy here!  I let the kids be in charge of the cake this year (a little hard for me to do, but it was fun and not stressful at all!)  I also bought frosting (another first for me!)  We made a cherry chip cake with cherry vanilla frosting (Marc's favorite) and I let each kid pick something to decorate with.  Kinnick chose black decorator frosting, Sadie chose sweet tart balls, and Macey picked green sixlets.  Each kid got a third of the cake to decorate...
The night of Marc's birthday we got our new fridge.  To save money, Marc enlisted our friend Eli to help him pick it up and move the old fridge out/new fridge in.  We picked up Chipotle (Marc's favorite) and enjoyed hanging out with our friends as we moved in our new fridge.

We also made this "one-of-a-kind" art work for Marc to put in his office.  I bought this canvas last year with the idea of making this... I'm glad it took an extra year to get it done because it now has 4 hand prints instead of 3!  The kids did the fingerpainting and we added the handprints after it was dry.

Mrs. Kiebles

1st Day of 1st Grade--August 21

Wow--this girl is growing up fast.  I love her independent personality.  She is one-of-a-kind no doubt about it.  I learn so much from her and she makes my heart happy!

Last Day of Summer Break

August 20:  I let Sadie choose something fun to do for her last day of summer break... she picked the zoo!  This was my first all-day outing with 4 kids... it went pretty well!  I let the kids wear their swimsuits under their clothes so they could play at the splash pad before we went home.  We did that last then changed into dry clothes.  It was a long day but we had a blast!

We are definitely enjoying our zoo membership!
