Downtown Chicago Pizza Tour

June 15:  For Mother's Day this year we had a fun date together.  For Father's Day, we did the same thing!  I purchased a Groupon to do a downtown Chicago Walking Pizza Tour.  I booked it for the day before Father's Day (knowing that if baby boy decided to come early we could reschedule).  Our tour consisted of 3 famous Chicago pizzerias and lots of history about Chicago-style deep dish pizza.  I opted for the lunch time tour and Aunt Nee Nee graciously agreed to babysit for us.

As we arrived downtown and began to look for parking, it started pouring rain!  Luckily Marc had a brand new umbrella in the back of his car (from a golf outing the previous day!)  We made it to our starting point without getting soaked...
Our first stop was "Pizzeria Uno".  It has a "sister" pizzeria--Pizzeria Due.  We had never eaten at either.  It's not uncommon to wait over an hour or two to be seated at either of these restaurants.  At each stop we sampled cheese deep dish, learned the history of the establishment, and learned fun facts about pizza.
Our second stop was Pizzeria Ora (Pizza Time).  This was a lesser known pizza place--check it out if you don't want to wait an hour for a seat!  This was my favorite pizza.  It had a really yummy (sweeter) sauce.
Our tour stopped by Gino's East (but unfortunately no sample there!)  and our last stop was Giordano's.  We have had Giordano's before, but never have eaten at the downtown restaurant.  This was Marc's favorite (and the cheesiest!)
We had a fun time--it was great to get in another date day!
