Avengers Live!

September 19:  I had fun taking both Sadie & Macey  to a Disney on Ice performance.  We did each event as a special date with mom.  It was fun to spoil the girls with some one-on-one time.  This fall, I had the opportunity to take Kinnick to see Avengers Live.  I was talking to my friend Michelle about how I looked into getting tickets to this event last year but they were so expensive.  A few weeks later she texted me and said she had a hook-up for tickets if we were interested.  I said sure and she ended up blessing us with AMAZING seats!  We went with her family and one other friend and her son.  It was fun to take Kinnick for a special day and I have to admit this show was pretty cool (the special effects were a bit more fantastic then ice skating!)  We had a blast!

Beauty and the Beast

March 2nd--I was able to take the kids to their first "live production" theater show. I can't say that I wasn't nervous taking all three, but my friend Erika (who inivited us to go with them) insisted that even Macey would love it and she could be an extra set of hands if I needed it (because she had reinforcements). I'm so glad I tried it... it was a perfect Friday morning adventure for us!

The show took place at Lewis University (about a 20 minute drive). It was put in by a traveling children's theatrical group--they were amazing! The theater was very small (so we were close to the stage) and the whole audience was children and parents--perfect for us! There was no intermission but the show.0 lasted only a little over an hour. All three kids were glued from start to finish and didn't make a peep!
Sadie was very excited to meet Belle and get her picture taken with her. Kinnick was excited to see the Prince and gave a mild high five but was not interested in having his picture taken. Macey was terrified of seeing them up close and held on for dear life!

We ended our fun morning with lunch at Burger King playland complete with icecream. So proud of my my kiddos today!

Disney On Ice

January 28th: I surprised Sadie with a visit from her friend Mikenna (from Streator) and a trip to Disney on Ice. Neither girl knew until the morning of what their surprise was. They didn't really care because they were so excited to see each other. We went to a lunch time show. We got there early so we could get some snacks and find our seats. We were up high, but the girl's loved it anyway. This show was called "Dare to Dream." We saw the stories of "Princess and the Frog", "Cinderella", and "Tangled." Sadie's favorite was of course Tangled. Both girls especially loved the ending when all the princesses came out in their fancy dresses.

Sadie asked LOTS of questions the whole time (typical of herself!) She started to get bored during the end of Cinderella but was excited when Tangled started. We both loved watching the skaters fly around using Rapunzel's hair.

We let each of the girls chose one treat before the show. Sadie took over 10 minutes to decided. We had to step out of line and I had to explain to her that all the booths had the same items for sale. She is very proud of her spinning Repunzel light and still plays with it often.

This was a first for both Sadie and I. We had a great time although Sadie later informed that "going to the Disney on Ice show messed up all my plans of things to play with Mikenna." I guess Mikenna and Stephanie will have to come again soon!

The Greatest Show on Earth!

The first week of November we had the opportunity to attend the circus at the United Center in Chicago... Now, I must start with a disclaimer--I would not recommend paying money to take a 3 year old, 1 year old, and 9 mo. old to the circus... AND if you decide you like a good challenge recruit lots of help (extra hands!) Okay, having said that, I was so grateful for the opportunity to attend the circus with Ms. Pearl's daycare. We've been going to the daycare about once every two weeks for the kids to play and me to help out however I can (more on that at another time!) I'm always grateful to try and give my kids new experiences--especially ones we wouldn't normally have... so we were on board for Circus day (and I had lots of good help!)

It was hard to get good pictures--but here are a few of the kids: We packed a lunch and during intermission all the kids ate in right in their chairs. Kinnick was such a BIG boy--he sat in his chair and ate his chips, sandwich, and apple. He even got his juice drink in and out of the cup holder all by himself. Kinnick's favorite part of the circus was seeing the animals--especially the tigers. He kept pointing and smiling at me. He also loved the motorcycles that rode in the cage.

Sadie loved to help with Macey and enjoyed holding her for a bit during the show. Macey did pretty good (we were there from 10:30--1:00!) She got passed around a lot, nursed once, ate her lunch, and took a very small nap. Sadie also did pretty good. She was somewhat restless at times (I felt the need to apoligize to the people behind us and in front of us after the show!) She took two bathroom breaks (luckily not during intermission when it was insane!) Her favorite parts were the dancing girls, the trapeze, the "silly jumpers" (on the big trampolines), the elephants, and the clowns.
Another "fun" part of our day was riding on a school bus for the first time. Kinnick was beyond excited--he always points out school buses for me when we are taking Sadie to school. (He also has an "I Spy" book with a school bus). Sadie & Kinnick enjoyed seeing the Chicago skyline and the many airplanes as we drove.
At the end of the day, I had three VERY tired kids, but we had such a great time!
