Summer Fun

Really, I've only had 1 day of "summer break"--Monday I was off and Tuesday and Wednesday I had training for school. However, it feel like summer is in full swing! We've been enjoying lots of summer activities including: many walks (Sadie LOVES the wagon!), swimming, Marc's 1st softball game, playing at the park, and of course... ICE CREAM! Monday I took Sadie on her first walk to the library. We didn't spend a long time inside (only about 5 minutes) but I figure that's good enough for now! Sadie checked out 2 books that we've been enjoying. I plan to try and take her once a week or so! (I'm actually enjoying my first book of the summer!) We've been starting each day with an early walk before it gets to hot and we usually walk again in the afternoon or evening with Marc or with some friends.

Sadie is so much fun right now! She regularly signs the words: eat, drink, more, milk, please, thank-you, and all done. She says the words: dada (her favorite word!), mama, more, puppy, dog, banana, night-night, hi, bye, and please. She also loves to wave at people, blow kisses, and shake her head adamantly when she does not want to do something! Right now we're working on some animal signs and holding up a finger to show how old she is.

Sadie is becoming a big helper. She LOVES to put things into the trashcan for us. She puts her hat up when get inside from a walk. She loves to get her shoes (and tries to put them on). She likes to give Wrigley his treats (although she occasionally tries to eat them). She's also typically very good about picking up her toys. She's really starting to enjoy reading more. She loves to get books off of her bookshelf and bring them over. She'll plop in our lap and listen to about 2-3 pages before she's off to get a different book!

I've been enjoying my break as well! I'm much less stressed than I was the last couple weeks of school. I've been taking some time to read and scrapbook. I've even cleaned my house and accomplished my first big cleaning project--the fridge!

Sadie LOVES ice cream. She typically eats all of her ice cream and manages to get some from mom or dad (or whoever we happened to walk to the ice cream place with!) I have to admit--she's pretty convincing when she's signing please and thank-you!)

This is Sadie and her friend Mikenna. We were at Mikenna's house to check out her new pool. The water was still a bit cold, but the girls enjoyed sitting on the side and splashing! Sadie is frequently sporting hair-dos like this because she likes to pull her ponytails out.

Sadie and her friend Carson are jumping in one of those blow-up jumpers. (This was a small one that we borrowed from a friend.) Sadie was going crazy!

Friday night, Marc and I babysat for Emma and Megan & Carson so their parents could go to HS graduation. The kids had fun. This was the only "calm" moment of the night. It lasted about 5 minutes until Sadie finished her grapes first and started trying to steal some of Carson's. (Yes, that's a typical Sadie moment!) One of Sadie's favorite activities--emptying kitchen cupboards. Recently she's gotten very good at picking out her own snack (at least she thinks she can!) She gets very upset when we have to put it back for later!

Seeing the counter at "Time Out" is making me crave ice cream in a sugar cone! :)
LOVE the pigtails! And so great to see the other kids too-- can't believe how big they are getting. I would never have recognized Emma.
Sorry I missed your call earlier-- I'll call tomorrow. Long story, but I was keeping watch over the church across the street while Kurt tried to find a place for a hitchhiker to stay for the night. My vivid imagination thought of all sorts of scenarios when I couldn't see Kurt. :)

Sadie sounds so much like Grace was last summer. What fun!

I love the pictures - especially the one of the calm moment during babysitting. Now that Jayden is crawling, I can identify that those calm moments are rare!
