Happy Mother's Day

For Mother's Day, Marc surprised me with a spontaneous trip to the zoo... I was a bit stressed thinking about all the things I still needed to do with only two weeks of school, but it was just what we needed--a day to get away and enjoy each other!

We decided to check out the Peoria Zoo because we had never been before. When we got there we found out Moms got in for free--that was a fun bonus! We really enjoyed it, especially the big "Africa" exhibit. Sadie's favorite animal this time was the rhino. She still continues to talk about them and how stinky they were. She wants to take her friends back to see them!

Macey enjoyed some time in the stroller!

Kinnick's favorite part was the small "petting zoo" exhibit. You really didn't get too close, you could stick your hands through the fence to feed them, but he loved it. Sadie didn't want them to touch her, she kept dropping her food on the floor. Kinnick wasn't scared at all, the closer they came the better--I'm pretty sure he let a goat lick his face!

There was a HUGE park outside the zoo, so we played for awhile before we left.

Before we left Peoria, Marc drove all the way across town and waited in line for over 20 minutes (with 3 crabby kids) to get coldstone for me. Marc is totally not a fan of taking crabby kids into public places to wait in a line (then again, I don't know who is--but he really hates it!) My point is, I really knew how much he loved me to get me my favorite ice cream!
I had a GREAT Mother's Day. I think the best part of my day was waking up in the morning and thinking "What would be a great day?" My first thought was... church, lunch with my family, playing at the park--pretty much a typical day. I really do love my life!

Macey--3 Months

Wow... time is flying by! I can't believe our little Macers is 3 months old.

She really likes to be on her tummy and is getting really good at pushing her head and chest up. She rolls from her tummy to her back frequently (but has not rolled the other way yet.)

She loves to smile and talk to us--and we love it too, of course!

She entertains her big sister and big brother constantly! They both love to talk to her and love on her.
She is beginning to bat at toys (although she doesn't usually get too much of chance to play by herself with the two big helpers around!)

She enjoys the bumbo seat and her bouncy seat. She is usually very content to sit and watch a ceiling fan or look out the window. We're still waiting for her first laugh...

Enjoying the Spring...

Ready for summer!

We've been outside about as much as we can since the warm weather hit! I was glad to enjoy a few nice days before I had to go back to work!

My first walk with 3 kids (and a dog!) Macey usually rides in the sling. (March 4th)

Sadie LOVES riding her "big girl" bike! She really surprised us--we were thinking maybe by early or mid summer she would be able to ride her bike on walks with us (because she had yet to master steering with her tricycle!) She was determined and did lots of practicing in the driveway. She rode to Timeout (our ice cream place that's about 3 blocks away) the week after she got her bike. She loves riding in our driveway with our neighbor Alayna and always insists on riding it when we go on walks.

We play in our driveway almost every day after school. We also hang out and play while Marc grills. The kids love to get out ALL of their riding toys, balls, bubbles, chalk, etc. Kinnick loves to play basketball with his dad. He gets so excited and runs to get the ball.

Sadie cannot wait to go swimming outside and to get our little plastic pool out of the garage rafters (she's very concerned about just how her dad is going to get it down). On this particular day she insisted that it was warm enough to wear her swimsuit outside.

Sadie enjoyed helping me get out all of the spring/summer clothes and put them away into drawers. This outfit is a short sleeved/pant outfit for Macey (3-6 mo. size). Sadie was sure it would fit her!
Kinnick got a pair of flip flops in his Easter basket and also a a pair of crocs that I picked up last summer. He is fascinated by them and loves wearing them. When we are in his room, he gets them out and asks for help putting them on.

The day before I went back to work (April 11th), we went for our first family hike... It was a beautiful day and we had a blast. We are looking forward to many more hikes this summer (and to using our new garmin for some geo caching, that is if we can convince Kinnick to let us hold it!)
