Mother Son Fall Ball

October 22:  I had the privilege of being escorted by this handsome young man to the Mother-Son Fall Ball at his school.  I love watching him dance and interact with his buddies and of course he asked me to dance a few with him too!  I love seeing who he is becoming.  He stole my heart 7+ years ago!

Hope for the Children

October 16:  Roseland Good News Daycare hosted their first giving dinner (first fancy one!)  I have helped Ms. Pearl plan many of these dinner that we hosted ourselves in the Agape center or the daycare.  We made lasagnas, salads, and desserts ourselves, decorated ourselves, and they were fabulous.  Cynthia (one of our board members has been encouraging Ms. Pearl do a bigger dinner for quite some time but the thought was just very overwhelming.  Ms. pearl decided this year with our new center open and a goal to be 100% self-supported by individuals & churches, to take the leap of faith and plan a BIG fundraising dinner.  I enjoyed helping plan and enjoyed inviting members of our church to attend.  TVCC had 28 guests in attendance!  It was such a great night of testimony from supporters, volunteers, and best of all MOMS!  We are already looking forward to this year's...

Chemo with Lindsey

October 13-14:  I was able to travel to Iowa for a couple days to spend time with Lindsey and attend her 2nd chemo appointment with her.  I arrived around 1:00 on a Tuesday and got to have lunch and spend the day with her while she was feeling good.  Her appointment was Wednesday morning then I got have lunch with Andy & Lindsey, Lindsey's mom, and Andy's parents.  She got her hair cut short and I loved getting to see her with short hair before she shaved it off.  I can't even begin to say how proud I am of this girl!

County Line Orchard

October 12:  We have always gone to Tanner's Apple Orchard... it was a tradition when we lived in Streator.  We would go every fall, usually with our friends the Shinkeys.  Since we moved it is about twice as long to get to Tanner's so we had been talking about checking out County Line Orchard in Indiana.  The kids and Marc had a Monday off for Columbus Day so we took a drive to check it out... we had a fun day and got lots of yummy goodies from their store!

Haircut

October 7:  Even thought I cut more than 15" from my hair in May, it had already gotten pretty long again.  As Lindsey was going through the start of her chemo the thing she was most nervous about was losing her hair.  She decided to get a short haircut as a transition.  I couldn't be there to go with her but I decided to chop my hair off in support of her.  I'm not sure if I would have been brave enough to go this short without the incentive but I'm so glad I did!  I love my shorter hair!

I have to note too that I went to a new salon for the first time.  Lisa, who had been cutting my hair (well, trims anyway!) is taking a break now.  I went to a mom I met from Sadie's school.  Everyone there couldn't believe how much hair I was cutting off and kept telling me how cute the new cut looked.  At one point I had 3 stylists working on my hair.  Michelle (the girl who did the hair cut for me) asked me what made me decided to go this short so I told her about Lindsey.  At the end she told me that she thought what I was doing was so great and she didn't charge me.  I was blown away by her kindness!!!

Sadie's "Sleep Over" Party

October 2:  Sadie has been wanting to have friends over for a sleep-over but we decided we aren't ready for that quite yet... as a compromise we had a "sleep over" party one Friday after school.  She invited 5 friends over.  They had so much fun playing, crafting, and hanging out.  We had spa treatments with toe-mail painting and face masks.  We had pizza and soda for dinner.  The girls changed into their pj's and we enjoyed popcorn and candy while watching the AGD movie--Grace.  Sadie and I took everyone home at 9:00.  It was a successful evening and I was exhausted!
