July 16th: Sadie lost her first tooth!!
It happened while she was spending the week at Ms. Jennifer's. She lost her tooth on the night that she stayed at her friend Mikenna's house. Mikenna's tooth fairy did not disappoint... she brought her $5 and a note. She was also kind enough to leave the tooth with Mikenna's mom (however Sadie found decided to examine it in the van and lost it somewhere in the seat... never to be seen again!) Sadie was very excited to call and tell us. She has yet to loose another tooth, but she has high hopes of loosing one (or several) at school this year. I hear you get a cool little container from the nurse when you loose a tooth at school!

8th Anniversary
July 16th: EIGHT YEARS! In some ways I can't believe it's been that long and in some ways it seems we've been married forever (I don't really remember life before kids). Compared to some of our anniversary celebrations this was pretty mild... BUT we did get our first dinner date with no kids since Carver was born (that in itself pretty incredible!) We ate at the Shrimp Barn in Minooka. I had been their before but Marc had not. We had a gift card I won in an adoption auction (and it was close to our babysitter!) so I talked him into trying it. He was a big fan and wants to go back for sure; however, it just so happens that on Tuesday nights a church Bible Study meets there... this really wouldn't be a problem except that it is a VERY small dining room... and they showed a video... and used a microphone... to talk about UFO's! It was interesting for sure but we were able to laugh it off and enjoy our dinner out nonetheless.
I am usually a BIG gift person but I did not have much time or energy to shop (or to be creative) so I made us a cheesecake... Marc brought me beautiful flowers... and we enjoyed dessert together... the night after our anniversary... because we were too tired to have it after our night out!
I am thankful that I picked Marc. I love doing life with him. We laugh a lot, learn new things and have fun together, and we make a pretty good team. I have big hopes for future anniversary celebrations that don't involve hurrying home to feed the baby... but until then, I'm choosing to enjoy each Moment in Time!
Track Meet
July 9th: One of the most fun things we did this summer (in my opinion) was participating in a community track meet. Some friends from church told us about the opportunity. Each summer Minnoka High School (the town where we go to church) puts on 3 community track meets. Events are open to males and females of all ages with divisions ranging from toddler to adult. Events include various runs and hurdle races, long jump, high jump, and shot put. We paid $5 per kid and they could enter as many events as they wanted. (All the proceeds went to MHS track program).
After we got checked in and signed up the kids got to practice their long jump with some advice from the track coach (at each meet they offer 1 "clinic"). There were 5 other families from our church there that had young kids competing.
All three kids tried the long jump quite successfully...
They also ran a hurdle race with the cutest little hurdles I've ever seen!
Each of the kids ran a 50 yard dash and a 200 yard run. Macey also participated in the toddler 20 yd. dash (3 & under).
The kids got to watch some older track students run and compete also.
Macey and her friend Bennett were the youngest to compete in the 200 yard run (in a 5 & under division). At the end of the race they hold up their ribbons and Macey said, "This color means we got last place!!! Yeah!"
The kids loved collecting ribbons for each event--they became prized possessions.
When we were finished we took the kids to Wendy's for supper. It was such a fun family night and we loved supporting our community. We can't wait for next summers' races!
Diving In
June 30--July 14
Carver's birth seems so long ago--it's really hard to remember what our family was like before him! This time around I knew two things to be true:
1--It's okay (and necessary!) to slow down, take naps, and stay in pajamas all day long... at first.
2--With 3 bigger kids to entertain (and to keep myself sane!) I knew that our family wouldn't be slowing down for too long...
Our first week was pretty slow with lots of naps. Our big kids came back on day #6 and after that things picked up. Carver got to go lots of places and do lots of things in his first two weeks that our other children did not! Here's a peek at Carver's first two weeks:
- Visited Daddy's Bank
- Shopping at Target
- First Doctor Appointment
- Shopping with Mommy & Daddy to pick out a new microwave
- Visit from Jason & Trista's Family
